Our Open Day on Saturday July 22nd was an enormous success.
Between bookings, lunch, volunteers, McGrath Northcote staff (who organised and manned a coffee van for us) we had close to 100 people through the place.
The place had a fabulous vibe, everyone left extremely happy and the food was awesome. Four different homemade soups were on offer at lunch time as well as freshly made gourmet sandwiches, compliments of our fabulous volunteers: Maria, David and Maureen.
Maureen also made chocolate fudge slice, caramel slice, banana cake, carrot cake, brandy snaps, apple cakes and cookies for morning and afternoon tea.
The various workshops: print-making, pottery, Devices (iPads), sewing and Sri-Lankan Cooking were really well attended and Childcare was open for families to learn about our Occasional Care centre.
The staff and volunteers worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event and on the day to ensure that it was a fabulous community event that gave local residents an insight into what we can offer. I addition it gave us an opportunity to find out more about what our community would like to see us provide in the future.
We were visited by Kim LeCerf (Darebin Mayor) and Councillors Susan Rennie, Trent McCarthy and Lina Messina on the day also.
